. : What is FTH? : .

FandomTrumps Hate is an online auction of fanworks that generates donations to small, progressive nonprofits that are working to protect marginalized people. We began FTH in the immediate aftermath of the 2016 Presidential Election, and over the course of the last 8 years have raised over $300,000 for a range of amazing organizations.
. : Our Mission Statement : .
Our goal is to take what we know—fandom—and channel that energy towards something that may feel daunting and inaccessible to many of us—activism. Fandom Trumps Hate is an organization by and for fans, dedicated to empowering the transformative fandom community to push back collectively against hateful groups and ideologies, all while enriching our fandom spaces in the process.
. : Why Fandom Trumps Hate? : .
The auction began as a response to the election of Donald Trump in 2016. Over the next four years, we saw many of our direst predictions play out as the hateful, regressive forces Trump empowered and normalized continued to dominate public life and policy. With his second term, we are now staring down an even more uncertain and frightening period for our democracy, the environment, foreign policy and human rights.Throughout all of this, many of us have found solace and fellowship in our fandom community. FTH is a way for fans to gather together, magnify the strength of our resistance, and affirm the community bonds that will carry us through these difficult times.
. : How do I know you’re not just taking my money? : .
We never directly touch the money! Winning bidders will donate to one of the listed nonprofits directly, and then send us proof of their donation in the form of a screenshot or copy of their receipt. We let the creators know their bidder has paid, and keep a running tally of how much has been donated to each organization.
. : Which nonprofits do you support? : .
We support small progressive organizations doing vital and ongoing work on tight budgets. And, because there is a seemingly never-ending list of progressive causes that need addressing, we switch up our list regularly to account for particularly pressing issues in a given year. We always include nonprofits working to protect marginalized people and fighting the erosion of democracy.Check out this year's list of supported nonprofits here.
. : How do I participate? : .
There are several ways; choose just one or some combination of them!⟪ As a Creator ⟫Offer your talents to your fellow fans to thank them for donating to progressive nonprofits. If you create fanfiction, fan art, videos, podfics, fancams, manips or any other digital fanworks—or if you provide fan labor like beta services or translation—you can be an FTH creator!⟪ As a Bidder ⟫Our auctions couldn't be a success without all the generous bidders ready to donate to the causes we support!Bidders pledge to donate money to one or more of the progressive nonprofits selected for that year's auction; as thanks, the creator will work with the winning (highest) bidder to produce a lovely new fanwork for them.Read more about participating as a creator or bidder⟪ In the Craft Bazaar ⟫If you have your heart set on offering a physical creation rather than a digital one, the Craft Bazaar is the place for you. This runs parallel to the main FTH auction and has its own set of policies and guidelines.
